I'd say XF40 or XF45. It looks like it has abrasions on it, like it was scraped against something. The highest points look like fresh metal. Maybe an old cleaning

I Agree with grade 40-45 . this coin was all black before taking a bath .

Is there any opinions as to what the hard black residue is?
It's hardened so probably just dirt from long, long ago?

I think the "abrasions" that's showing on the coin is from the way the picture was taken as you can't see them in person.
