Effect Of Pinholes (I.e. Staple Holes) On Canadian Banknote Grading

Shoeplier Valued Member Canada 254 Posts	Posted 05/09/2016 4:01 pm Hi all, I have a polymer $50 I got from work that looks UNC to me, except there are clearly two holes left behind from a staple by the serial numbers. When I read on the descriptions for each grade provided by the Charlton catalogue, the use of "demerits" is quite frequent to describe the difference between uncirculated grades. How would staple holes affect an otherwise UNC note in terms of the grading system? Does it automatically assign the note to a certain grade, or would it count as a certain number of demerits? Can this still be uncirculated? I can provide pictures if it helps. Thank you. Report this Post to the Staff
