I'm looking for a second opinion on this. Along the bottom and left rims on the reverse, starting from the left side of the '0' is what looks like a long die crack.... Or a scratch. It's in a PCGS straight slab. 1828 square base 2, small 8, large letters.

And how does the color not qualify it for a genuine / cleaned grade? It certainly does not look natural.

The pics are not great but it appears to be a die crack. I agree, it has been cleaned IMO.

Thanks for the input. All I could do photo-wise was a screenshot from my phone. The sellers pic isn't that great either. Strange that PCGS let this one go without mentioning the seemingly obvious cleaning. Or maybe not so strange considering others we have seen.

Unless the surfaces are damaged, they will grade a dipped coin. I can't tell if the surfaces have been damaged from this poor photo, but a 200 year old coin should not be white.

You can look at the line with a 10x loop. If its raised, its a diebreak. Or you can take decent pictures and one of us will assign it to an Overton variety, whereupon we will be able to see if the variety has a diebreak described or not.

Yes, I think the best option would be to pass. There's plenty of good fish in the lake. It's non-returnable and I can't get any better photos since I don't have it in hand.

Never buy a coin that is non-returnable.

This coin has been officially removed from my mental watch list and I shall never think about it again. Thanks all.
