What are you seeing on your coin that you see as a doubled die?

So no on the doubled die. The area above the date is what I refer to as machine damage to those devices. The strike happened and then a bounce/hop/die movment altered the tops of the devices. How to tell?

Machine damage disturbs the struck devices. It reduces the size of the from impact with a direction before the coin was ejected from the chamber. Something like these examples:

Note all these examples have the devices reduced a bit from normal. The color of the area affected is all the same color. On a normal coin you will see a contour of the coin where the light changes from lighter to dark as it falls over the devices. Also the area affected is flat, nor rounded and looks shelf like. Not a premium event for your coin.

Also John1 mentioned the "so called' poor man's doubled die. This is actually die wear. The wheat cents in the 1950's were over used and lot of strange things were noticed during this time as the mint over used the die then. This alters the las 5 or both 55 on the date. But when you look at the rest of the coin you can see an overall patter of wear and deterioration of the die:

So it is not a doubled die but MD on the devices. Plus the coin exhibits heavy die wear.
