Give your guess...and stop being so conservative. Memorials grade higher than wheats, try to determine the luster using the field cartwheels and reflections.

Yes, when you see those, you can usually bet the luster is off the charts....and this coin has it.

You are way underestimating my Memorial cent postings BTW. Hopefully, you can gain some understanding of how pictures can be used to judge these. It's also helpful to spend some time on the PCGS website and ha.com.

I am not comfortable to grade memorial cents and adapt more restrictive rules than the early wheat cents. It is not personal. No offense intended.

None taken...and like wise. I'm trying to help you learn, sorry if I sounded too harsh.

I see this as a solid 65RD, but I've also seen PCGS grade coins like this in a 66. So either would not surprise me one bit.

mdrosophila, I see what you were doing with the MS64RD. Unfortunately, this is a not a full details coin. Probably because of the polishing on the die but also Denver is notorious for poor spacing of their dies.

This Coin is MS65+RD or MS66RD based on examples from the PCGS website for comparison but without the luster this coin is a MS63 or MS64. Marked up and not FD. Again, a high grade holder for a lack-all but-luster piece.

jy, I agree. If the full mint luster is present, MS65RD is conservative.
To me, carbon spots/corrosion spots/finger marks > mint luster > hits > scratches/cuts. Many rank mint luster above spots. I understand that.

This coin has blazing luster. When you see those die polish lines, you can usually count on great luster.

I graded this 66RD.
