I'm afraid to say that this is not an inverted S. It's the serif style mint mark, only the ball serif style will be inverted if you can find one. And usually there will be a void on the bottom curl of the S for attribution.
I would welcome a closer shot of this one. It looks like an invert mint mark to me: Note how the top of the normal ball serif center look shows the split in that area? That is what to look for. So I would like to see a closer shot of your coins mint mark area.
