AU-58. Just a tony bit of wear on the knee.

I tend to agree - the eagle's breast and leading wing edge seem to show a tad of wear. Certainly a 58 grade would not surprise. A wonderful example in any event, and well photographed.

Even if it were MS60 I don't think it is worth spending money to have it graded. It is not a rare LSQ. If it were 23-S or 27-S then it might be worth the expense to see if it is AU or MS.

The way the TPGs grade them, I've seen pieces with rub on the knee plus down the shin get into Mint State holders. I don't think that should happen, but I've seen it occur since the rattle holder days in the late 1980s.

Thanks for all the feedback! My initial thought was AU58 when the coin arrived. I will still send it through to PCGS - paid a good price for the coin and it will be nice to have this example as a reference for future purchases.
