I don't know what this is. It looked like a cool piece of art at first but guy said it was left for him by a family member. Supposedly he had it insured and claimed Nixon personally gave it to him. Any guess or knowledge? It's not mine I'm just trying to reach out to a guy asking about it.

Ya that's what I was assuming. Anybody could've dipped it in silver and molded acrylic around it. I vaguely remember as a kid always being drug to auctions and garage sales seeing some like this for .25¢ or so. Thanks.

Here's a few I found on ebay. I guess there commonly called paper weights. The coins look really cool suspended inside.I wonder how hard it would be to crack them out with out damaging them.

The odds of these being anything are 0.001%.

If those coins are actually from Nixon and are silver patterns they would be worth a fortune.

What are the circumstances in which he got these from Nixon?

Smells like a big fish story to me.

Ya I offered to buy his for $75 just because he's down on his luck and it was cool in the artistic light but he thinks it's worth more because of his uncle's fairy tale. I'm not even going to break his heart lol

He claimed he worked for a main branch for "a bank". No particular bank. No reason he'd have met Nixon that anybody is aware of. I doubted it myself but because of the 74 aluminum pieces I had to ask. Thanks for those links Jasper I may buy one. Maybe 2 to try getting them out of one!

The look plated to me. The aluminum surface is not shiny:

I agree I think it's plated as well. Would the shine always be the determining factor on these? I've never seen a picture of one so shiny but I haven't seen an MS70 aluminum cent yet either. Either way I assume it would be nearly impossible to get it out of there intact so it's worthless without even a certificate I would think.
