Hounddog Bill Pillar of the Community Canada 1221 Posts	Posted 05/16/2016 10:35 am I came across these at my coin club on the weekend and I'm not sure why but I bought twenty of them. A lot are from the Calgary coin club. I'm not even sure what you call them or if they're even collected I just thought they may bring back some memories for someone. I've got these from the Coin Expo in recent years also. I think they only give out so many each day to the first 50 or 100 paying customers. Cheers, Bill. Report this Post to the Staff

chequer Pillar of the Community Canada 4227 Posts	Posted 05/16/2016 10:40 am Yup, wooden nickels or wooden money (as in the Canadian Association of Wooden Money Collectors) - sometimes they're issued as tokens (redeemable for discounts) or often they're made to commemorate something like a coin show or anniversary. There are some collectors of these, though they generally aren't worth much. I collect woods from Atlantic Canada. Report this Post to the Staff
Dennman Valued Member Canada 496 Posts	Posted 05/16/2016 2:53 pm I have a small collection of these Wooden Nickles.I pick them up whenever I see them in my travels.Second hand and thrift stores are usually where I find these inexpensive souvenirs.Some were free "Business cards" that I came across while touring the north western states years ago.
