Newfoundland 1945 Five Cent Mintmark Damage

carholme New Member Canada 21 Posts	Posted 05/16/2016 1:44 pm I hope I have this in the right place. If you take a look at the "C" mintmark you will see that it is missing the top 30% of the mark. Under 40X magnification there is no evidence of shearing or other impact damage which may have caused this but you can see at the top of the remaining mark where metal has been deposited, increasing the size in thickness and height. Has anyone with Newfoundland experience seen this before or can someone offer a reason for this? Gerry Report this Post to the Staff
