Dealer-And-Collector-Numismatic Crime Information Center - Dealers and Collectors interested in personal and business protection should consider attending the "Think Like A Thief " Summer ANA seminar.

A specialized custom security course is being offered at the American Numismatic Associations Summer Seminar in Colorado Springs, CO. The 4-day "Think Like a Thief" course begins on Sunday, June 19 at 9am and ends on Wednesday, June 22 at about 8:30pm. The course is directed by COL Steven Ellsworth, ret. COL Ellsworth is a former Green Beret Commander, Ranger and NRA certified Advanced Pistol Instructor and a leading security expert in the coin industry.
Course Description;

A 4-Day class: Sunday 9-4pm, Monday-Wednesday, 8:45am-4:30pm. Learn how to minimize and manage the risks of theft, burglary, robbery or personal injury to individuals, firms and their families as a coin collector or operating a coin business. Topics include home, office, store and coin show security, as well as an in-depth study of how to travel safely by car, taxi and plane when transporting collections and coin inventory. Storage security, personal protection, non-lethal, improvised weapons and the use of deadly force and legal ramifications are addressed in depth. Case studies and active role-playing are emphasized. You will write a basic security plan for yourself and your family and will learn basic firearm safety and familiarization and complete NRA Refuse to Be A Victim, Basic Pistol and Personal Protection in the Home. An approximate 8-hour on line course, cost $60, prior to arriving in Colorado Springs and a written examination for certification is required. This meets the Proof of Training requirement for Colorado's CCW and most other states. This course has an additional fee of approximately $65 and students must be 21 years old. Students will need to discuss their needs and objective and expectations with the instructor prior to enrollment. This course is only offered every other year and enrollment is limited.
