I frequently read posts where I completely agree with the poster, or think the poster did a wonderful job of replying to a question or other post, or just provided good solid information.

I think it would be nice to have a method to put a kudo, like, laud, or some other positive indicator. This would serve several purposes. It would let the poster know their post is appreciated, and would let other readers see that a post is agreed with by others.

Currently, one has to either be the very next poster and use the "I agree" icon, or make a completely new post with a quote to add a comment about it.

Just my opinion as a user, not as a moderator, so this topic is still open to discussion.

I don't know how much programming it would take, but being able to click a "like/laud/kudo" type thing would be much easier than selecting text to quote, making a new post, pasting that text, highlighting that text, clicking the quote button, then finding and clicking the thumbs up icon.

In addition, that method loses the association of the quote, to who made the quote. Thus the thumbs up goes with the quote, and not the author.

This could be next to the "report post", and just have a running tally of how many times someone has expressed their positive opinion of that particular post.

Probably too much programming for the added benefit, but I think it would encourage quality posts.

I know this has come up before, but I can't seem to find the post or remember the reason behind not adding the feature.

Myself, I don't make any "wow nice coin" posts, as they don't add any information to the topic, do not present another point of view, etc. On the other hand, I would click a button to express that I found a post interesting or informative.
