I know this has to be PMD and I suppose it is from contact resulting in this damage. But I still don't understand how? It seems as if the U is also truncated?
It does seem bizarre. If another coin with the same diameter caused the flattop damage to the M, it couldn't have caused the horseshoeing damage to the U at the same time. The N also seems consistently truncated. Three coordinated hits?
