I am now officially shopping for my first DSLR camera. The first thing I am looking for is a model that has Live View capabilities, and secondly one that is known to tether with Linux. If anyone here has experience with that or input on models they do or do not recommend, it would be welcome.

Conversely, anyone who is interested in using a DSLR with Linux should know that I will have a setup up and running shortly, and I can help with that if needed. I have great need for efficiency, so, I aim to achieve it.
Cheers!

I use the Canon Eos T3. It is a great first DSLR and has live view both on camera and when connected to computer. I do know of earlier versions of the Canon Eos running on Linux just fine. I use Windows 10 however.

If you have the money however I would recommend the T5 or T5I to start with. Same features just better quality and faster shutter speeds.
