Got a job lot of medals in an auction and cannot identify these two... No writing doesn't help.

Welcome to the forum!

I myself do not know too much about metals, but others might. Give the post a little time, and someone may come your way to help you.

This might be more appropriate for a militaria forum. They would better be able to identify this sort of medal.

Luckily I know a very good one, which I would suggest using in this case.

The medal on the left has green, black, white and red so it might be worth considering countries with those colours (or some of them in their flags - see http://www.photius.com/flags/alphabetic_list.html.

The medal on the right seems to have a crescent moon, so I would look at those countries that have a crescent moon on their coins. Also it has a large bird, probably an eagle so that may be a clue too.

On that basis, I suspected the medal on the left is from Syria.
It seems to be the Order of the Wounded instituted in 1953 for those "injured whilst acting in the service of the state". See http://www.medal-medaille.com/order...-p-9029.html

As the medal on the left is from Syria, the other may be from there, and it seems to be the Order of Military Merit - see http://www.medals.org.uk/syria/syria007.htm
