Sorry if this has allready been discussed, I was unable to search and find an answer to my question.

Is it true that 2008 is the last year for edge lettering on the Presidential dollars?

The edge lettering is the WORST thing the US Mint has ever done. It's awful!

My understanding is that 2008 will have the edge lettering ,,and subsequent productions will not .

but Hey its possible that the edge lettering will be a part of these coins throughout the series ,, I don't think anyone in the state of confusion (DC)knows for sure .

Last I checked, it went from removing the edge lettering entirely to only moving IGWT to obv or rev and leaving the date, mint mark, and motto on the edge.

The legislation only mandates that "In God We Trust" has to be moved to the face (obverse or reverse; neither is specified). Everything else can stay on the edge.

IGWT is moving to the face, the rest stays. I, personally, like the edge lettering.

i like the idea of edge lettering, but I don't like the quality that is being produced...it doesn't look very appealing...maybe it's because the coin is so small and with the naked eye it just doesn't have the something that it needs..it's a conundrum for me...

I like the edge lettering also.

And I like the fact I can educate people when they say, "oh thats one of those godless coins isn't it?"

I don't like the edge lettering. I think the Presidential dollars look more like some sort of cheap token because of some of the traditional inscriptions being placed on the edge, making the obverse and reverse look plain.

I would be happy to see the mint do away with edge lettering.

I am a huge fan of the edge letting. The Adams double and smooth edge was very very good to me. Leave em alone...
