Okay, I've been having trouble getting this response to post -- here's another try: Quote: All my photos are high resolution photos, and had to resize the images here to under 300KB.. @Broken-Coin -- do you have software that will enable you to crop your high resolution photo to include just the area around the BP #, like this: From your original high resolution image, you could zoom in on the BP first, and then crop the image so that it would be less than 300KB and could then be posted here. Quote: It can only be the 5/4 combo with no other front plate number as unlike the Sheet fed press that requires 3 days between back and face printings, the Web had printed the 96 front side's first, passed through a oven to dry the ink, then proceed to printing the 96 notes reverse side.. It might be premature to rule out just yet the possibility that the broken 4 variety couldn't have been paired with FPs other than 5. For example, BP 4 was also on the press with FP 4. Perhaps FP 4 was replaced at some point by FP 5 while BP 4 was left on the press. If the problem with BP 4 existed before that FP switch, it should also be present on some notes with FP 4. At some point, BP 4 was also paired with FP 3, FP 9 and FP 10. Quote: 20 years after its demise, now I have multiple questions on the combined 196 Plates mounted on the Alexander Hamilton Web Press..
Chances are there are no related documents available via a FOIA request.. Don't we all! Based on my experience with FOIA requests, I'd say that you're probably correct. But it's worth trying anyway because you never know what you're gonna get. Quote: Hey Joe, do you have a YouTube account? @YNumismetals Collector -- sorry, no.

No, it's fine, it's just that I know a YouTube Coin Roll hunter with a similar name.

A friend who has been helping me look for notes from the JB-C block recently found a note with FP 56 from plate position G4: This is significant because this note is from the right half of the run, at long last confirming that the BEP did not destroy FP 56 sheets from either half of the run. Which means (I hope) that my search for notes with FP 56 from plate position B-4 hasn't been for naught after all and that they are out there waiting to be found...

xxJOEx, I didn't forget you, just busy working on a answer to a 5 month old post from another thread that I had forgotten about.. This answer required I stray from errors and actually purchase non error currency that I had recommended to another member.. As far as the Broken 4 variety, There are a number of 5/4 Plate Combo Runs in the 1988A series Webs, I assume Back Plate #4 was changed, I have no way of knowing if the Plate was changed to another Number with a different Plate Combo or replaced with another #4 Plate.. The rare, and expensive Plate combo's for this Run (#12) are 3/4 & 4/4, with a listed value in CU condition $3,200. each.. All my photos are taken in the 5MB to 7MB settings, then uploaded to my laptop.. In the past I would upload the photos to photobucket, then post the link here.. I have no problem zooming in on my laptop photos, and the Broken "4" looks more like a Weird "4" when zoomed in, and a "1" when zooming back out.. Correction; On the Alexander Hamilton Web Press, the Backs are printed first, I had it bassackwards..

xxJOExx, I just sent Bob Kvederas Jr. a email with new photos of the reverse plates for side-by-side comparison of both #4 back plates.. I was going to email you and see if you wanted me to forward you a copy of the email, and received the following CCF message.. Quote: Send an Email Message

Close Window Bob Kvederas Jr. & Sr. are the Authors of; The Standard Handbook of $1 Web-Fed Test Notes - Series 1988A, 1993, 1995 I have their 2nd Edition Book.. With their vast knowledge of Web Notes, I asked if they want to add to this topic, I can start a new thread on the Broken "4" variety, and also requested additional information on the 96 Plate layout..

Thanks cashhound, that latest note is particularly good because it is from run 2, sheet number in the 100,000 to 110,000 range and has plate no. 61. This reveals good information about the plate distribution within run 2. Now if I can only get notes with sheet numbers in the 20,000 range, 30,000 range, 60,000 to 90,000 range, and 110,000 to 130,000 range.
I'm really glad that you keep finding examples -- it will be a while before I'm at the point where I can say "enough".

Cash hound told me about this topic.
I have a $10 bill #JB 23842384 C On the front it says FW H 59 and on the back bottom right it shows 55.
Hope it helps in your research.
