Hey guy's
I have this 1925 sixpence, it is missing the star.
I suspect it is just due to being heavily worn, or PMD.

I attempted to photograph it on an angle, so you can see there is absolutely no sign of the star. And there is no marks that look like it has been deliberately removed.

Any thoughts?

I'm sorry to ask, but is there any chance that you can make a closer up, especially of the area where the star should have been? It's not possible for me to say now if this coin has been (manually) altered or not. Just wear seems a tad implausible to me, as the rest of the coin has some wear but is still quite well visible and distinguishable.

Anyway, from what I see now I can only agree with you that it seems implausible that this coin has been deliberately altered.

Judging by the wear on the bottom of 'XPE' and the tip of the Emu's beak, I would say it's been done deliberately to deceive someone.

Also a couple sort of semi-circular marks between the Roos face and the 'X'. My opinion is PMD. Sorry.

thanks for the input.
I will try and get some closer shots today.
And no need to be sorry Nevol, It was a coin I had found with my metal detector, so it was just a curiosity for me.

this is about as close as I can go, sorry I don't have a scanner, only my camera. I don't think it's much better than my original photo.

It seems as though the point where the star should be is actually slightly raised.

There appears to be a lot of scratches that look like it's been sanded. Strange that anyone would bother to do this to a 6d, and then lose it.

Most likely PMD.
Obverse image would help though.
