Easily BU, a bit of a weak strike keeps it from 67.

MS63RD - it's a very beautiful coin, but I think the pictures are hiding some flaws

Thanks for the opinions. I've been contemplating sending this to PCGS, I think it has a shot at 67-68 based on the comparisons I've made to graded coins.

Very nice cent! I would say MS-66RD. I see no strike weakness and I say send it in and see if you get a 67 grade, I wouldn't be suprised.

Very nice coin BadThad. I think the small hits on the upper jaw and the back of the cheekbone, and the hit on the bottom of the portrait near the rim may keep this one at MS-66, but it just might have a shot at 67.The obverse fields look nearly flawless in the pictures, and I am guessing the marks at the top of the ear and back of hair are highlights and not hits. The reverse is exceptionally clean in the fields and the devices. I think I talked myself into MS-68....No matter the grade a great looking coin !

Thad
Before you send it in consider the two little dings on the collar ,, I think that they will keep the coin at 65/66 Red,, if they were not there then a solid 66 with the others that are mentioned .
I do not see the coin as a 67 even though it is a nicely struck coin (no weakness from strike )

Is it worth it to send it in for grading? MS67 = 175-200 dollars

Thanks Metalman....I'm still thinking. LOL I hate slabbed coins for my collection. If I get it slabbed, it's going to be for sale and I'll have to replace that in my collection. quote: Is it worth it to send it in for grading? MS67 = 175-200 dollars
Are you kidding? LOL Hell ya, I probably paid like $3 for it.

Thad I only have a couple of slabbed coins ,, I just can't get into the whole plastic ,Market grading thing !
even though I encapsulate my coins the grades they are given are not based on some mystical grading standard .

HAHAHAHAHA....me neither! The only value I see in it is assigning a price to a coin. I spend lots of time looking at Heritage and looking at the grades PCGS assigns. All I can say is OMG. LOL I know they are the most respected, but....
