This proof is in an NGC holder. All spotting is on the holder. Test your skills ...

WOW! Very nice example. Being in an NGC holder I will guess PR-67 UCAM.
Love it!

Lucky13, This is a proof issue and unless circulated, they are assumed to be FBL. You would be able to see them clearly had I taken the shot at an angle to the bottom.

It sure looks like at least one or two of the white marks are typical "milk spots" commonly seen on Franklin proofs. If they are in fact only on the holder then the coin deserves a very high grade of PR-68 or better.
I don't see enough cameo contrast to go with a DCAM rating, so PR-68 CAM seems fair.

PR68 DCAM. You just never know what could be behind those spots. Nice coin.

Very nice Dave. That is a high dollar coin and a tough grade.
Thanks for sharing.

Not to run down a very nice coin, but I think NGC can be a bit loose with DCAM ratings. ICG is possibly even easier. PCGS seems the most strict and prices for DCAM proofs are highest for PCGS coins. Here is another 1963 proof, this one graded PR68 DCAM by PCI. I think in this case the numerical grade is too generous by 1 or maybe 2 points, but the level of cameo contrast on this coin does deserve the DCAM rating: It is pretty difficult to take a photo that accurately shows the cameo on a proof, so maybe the NGC coin has sharper contrast in-hand than what the photos show. SeatedNut, if you were able to get your coin crossed to a PCGS PR68 DCAM slab, you would probably double its potential sale price. Food for thought!

Thanks Jaobler. Great minds think alike . That coin is black and white and deserves the DCAM ... my photography skills are still a work in progress. I'm going to have to wait until SuperDave does another mass submission to PCGS. I've tried to work with my local brick and mortar in the past for submissions (leave me your phone # and I'll call when we are ready to submit ... three years, no calls).
