AU50/55 IMO as it still shows some mint luster and has very few marks. I can't seem to find the "VDB" Very weak strike or my eyes just aren't what they used to be

XF-45, I'm also having a hard time seeing the VDB, may have been a bad angle or lighting.

AU50-55, the reverse has some strike weakness in the wheatheads, based on the obverse, I don't think that's wear. The VDB is so weak, it looks faked IMO. I don't see how the VDB could possibly be so weak.

Merc; it's there, very worn; keeping me from going to AU.

Upon closer inspection I do see a trace of the "V" & "B".

JHS, when you say very worn do you mean the die state? I don't see how the area where the VDB is could wear that much without other areas of the coin also showing significant wear.

That's what I'm saying, it doesn't make sense. I've never seen one of these with so little wear displaying such a weak VDB. All I can think of it was grease filled on the die.

Cuprous; good point !! I see anomalies (not wear) on that part of the rim, diminishing the VDB. Thanks for pointing that out to me. Y'know, I'm up at inhuman hours messing around on my pc.
