But ther are these two wheat cents that I ran across in rolls of circulated coins that I havnt a clue whats wrong with them. I was hoping I could pick your brain for another minute. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 05/22/2016 5:24 pm Gary the one on the left is damaged. Note how the rim bulges upward in several spots? That tells me the coin was hit again something with a hammer. The coin is a Wheat cent, but collectability is pretty much gone at this point. The one on the right is also damaged a bit. (looks like it was rubbed on a sidewalk?) I can't see the date, but it looks like a pre 1918 cent. It may have been a nice coin in its day. It may have been a woodie cent. The color looks like it is rusty. (which is weird for a copper cent) The reverse is very weak. You might try carrying it for a while to see if the color wears off on it? Report this Post to the Staff

The closest I can guess is 1910 but thats just a guess at what that last number looks like. Thank you for that and I will begin wearing it. So much history in these coins you cant help but to wonder what journeys its been through to make it look the way it does now. That goes for AU, BU, all the way down to Hammer and pavements lol.
