Specimen/Proof Silver Dollars 1971-1991
.500 silver, .500 copper
23.30 grams
36.07 mm

1987 John Davis 400th Anniversary
Designer Christopher Gorey
Mintage 405,688
Issue Price $19.00 Cdn

11.65 grams of Silver = .375 oz

You got a nice Proof Coin for $10 US or $12.5 Cdn
Same Coin at Colonial Acres = $13.45 Cdn + Tax $2.02 (15%) = $15.47

If it was $10 Canadian you did well. I got a 1971
Specimen SD on the Weekend in OGP for $10 Cdn (.500
Silver) at a Flea Market, no tax, no delivery, I like
being able to see the coin before purchase, haggled him
down from $15 to $10.

$10 USD is a very good price IMO, especially if you purchased it to keep in your collection. I have seen the coin sell for ~$20.

The coin is an attractive commemorative and a nice example of the fine art of engraving.

I hope you enjoy owning it!
