Found this in a penny box and it looks just like 1987-D-1MM-014 on coppercoins but I'm not positive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think it is an RPM. Does any of the markers match your coin?

On the top right it looks as if there are portions of a secondary mintmark. It looks exactly like 1987-D-1MM-014 on coppercoins.com

So it could just be die polish marks or a gas bubble that I'm seeing?

I know all too well what a bummer it is when is doesn't turn out as we hoped. One of things the members here on the forum taught me is to look at the basics first. With some of these years there are so many RPM's - so when I see the little thumbnails on the coppercoins website I first look for the MM placement itself in relation to the date and then look into the MM itself - saves a lot of time.

Keep on trying though. This is such a fun and fantastic hobby and the members here are terrific people who really know their stuff.

It is probably die flow touching the mint mark that you are seeing. As COinCents mentioned, the location of the 014 is not the same as your coin. I feel yours is a normal coin.

Thank you all for the input. I will use this knowledge as I find more and more potential error coins. I had no idea about mintmark placement before you guys told me. I have a few more potential error coins that I will try to post in the next couple of days if I get the chance. I would love to hear any thoughts as I am open to all new knowledge about coins.

Dustin6,
FYI: your coin would have been a variety not an error.
