NoPoMoCo thank you I like that as well. there is images. posted by kanga. he is the one who started myself on to these ottlites. see the tube is about 6 inches long. if you place the lamp right that is the effect on the coin. if you use 2 lamps there can be a perfect X across your coins. kanga has images here that demonstrate that. the X has a perfect effect on pennies.here is another image with 1 single ottlite the lamp is placed in another position.

So how should the coin be positioned in the light box to give these effects? Seems it would need to be angled or in the back to be illuminated from the right.

I like them. They're very energetic. The devices are illuminated from the sides and top causing them to stand out from the fields, which are more diffusely lit.

Thanks! Shot this to compare to Rocky's. I think this new setup is much better. It is MUCH smaller than the other one. Plus I taped Black construction paper for background. Show up grey for some reason.

ASE Proof. Wanted to test reflectivity. I think it look great, but this coin has a light golden toning. I cant figure out how to get any coin that is toned to look like it does in my hand.

MontCollector great photos. I am finding that taking photos horizontally. one should have a mount. that the camera and coin are attached to the same base. I am going to rebuild my box. I am go back to the enlarger stand. I find if I can use my micro focus er. it is so much more easier for final focus. I have found a supplier that sells. this black and whites sheets of studio board. it is 20 x 30 inches sheets. it is very rid-git. so it is so easy to work with. to build light boxes. plus dark boxes for axial lighting. it only cost a 1.50 Canadian per sheet. I am going back today to 4 sheets of each. I believe someone priced this stuff wrong. it is designed for photography. it works great

Pic of my rebuilt light box. 1st one was way to big. Coin pics above were taken in this. Approx. 12" wide 10" tall 10" deep. White tissue paper covers holes made on sides and top, and black construction paper is taped to back. Also have white slick paper taped to bottom for better light reflection. I kept flaps on sides and top to help block any external light from coming in the front and to keep less light from escaping from box. Have 2 Ottlites(one on each side) and a 5000k Daylight light up top. Am planning on getting a 3rd Ottlite for the top as soon as I can pick one up.

Found out how to use the custom WB setting on my Canon. Since the EOS T3 doesn't allow you to adjust the WB in Close-up mode. I had to use Program mode had to adjust everything manually. These any good?

Thanks Rocky.
I think the coin is sitting to far back in box. I have it sitting against back wall. Gonna move to center of box and redo WB setting for center then take new shots. will post results tonight.
BTW. How do you get toning to show up the way it looks in your hand. I have an 1883O that has some beautiful emerald green toning. Have taken LOTS of pics of it from different angles and with different light and I cat get it to show right. Just looks flat and ugly in pics.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
