There is a whole section elsewhere on the site that is devoted to numismatic picture-taking. I suggest lurking there a little to pick up some tips. If your camera pics were in focus and cropped, they would be fine. Maybe not good enough to put into a magazine, but certainly fine for the purpose of determining an attribution. For your Dutch coin, I think that my first thought was right.
