it weights 2.9, how is it that the rim doesn't show any marks of been file ? found it on a group of pennies I got from a friend

just a theory it was filed in the 60s/70s and circulation gave it a "rim"

The coin was filed down. Thus the reduction in weight. The obverse side shows a rim. The reverse had one before it was altered. The missing weight is what was removed.
