Well it does appear to be a Japanese 50 Sen. I can't tell the date by those pictures (somewhere in between 1922-1938 during the Taisho/Showa eras) but it is a coin that was minted in silver.

I can narrow it down to 1928 to 1938, as the very last digit of the date is visible enough from that picture for me to see. It also looks like the date is four digits, not five, which would make it from 1928 to 1935, but I may be wrong on that, as it is very hard to see. It is this coin.
