I went through a bunch of nickels, put some good ones away from these years. I wanted to share an example to see where it falls under. Opinion appreciated. I'm going to say XF45/AU50 as there appears to be slight wear on the cheek and neck which would put this in the AU range and whenever I start to see a high contrast between the field under the legend and the portrait I start to think XF.
