Just got this beauty recently! My understanding about this coin is that it was not very well liked when it was issued, so there are not a lot that received this amount of honest wear. Many can be found in mint state for cheap.

I thought it was really cool and wanted it for my collection!

Nice pickup!
A lot more worn than mine.
Surprised it didn't get graded PO1.

Why did you pay to have it certified? Why not use it for a pocket piece for a few more years so that you get an poor?

This maybe a dumb question, but what does FA stand for? Cool coin by the way. Gives the Totem Pole the ghostly, creepy look.

FA is an abbreviation for 'Fair'. the bottom of the grading scale goes Po(poor)-1, Fa or Fr(Fair)-2, Ag(almost good)-3, G(good) 4 and 6, VG(very good)-8 and 10 and so on.

thanks Matt, I haven't sent it in yet, I would be happy with a Fair grade though.

I'd have to agree with Jimmy here surprised it didn't get poor.

One of the few numismatic topics where I can honestly claim expertise is low-ball collecting ....

As such ... the OP example should IMHO be graded NGC PO01.

It has every characteristic needed to get there ... I believe the graders at NGC did not get this one correct.
