Got these today! Unfortunately while it is awesome to have them in my possession they won't be staying too long. Just found out our tree in the backyard needs cut down since it's dead sooo selling these will help with that cost. But still wanted to show them off! And these were just the few I could get. The auction also had a top pop 1878 Morgan dollar that sold for $10,000! An awesome experience to see some high end stuff.

Nice finds! Do any local coin dealers show up to the auctions? In my area one (or more) of the local coin dealers usually is in attendance at most of the larger coin sales.

Oh yeah there were a large amount of dealers but also people just there to buy the big stuff too. Apparently there were owners of insurance companies, bankers, all sorts of people. Also just FYI a total of at least 35 coins sold for over $1000 at this auction. Heck I'm just glad to have gone and seen some of the coins lol

To paraphrase a line from the Godfather:

"Keep the coins. Leave the tree."

Unless the dead tree is posing some sort of significant nuisance (e.g over top of a structure or annoying the neighbors) I'd leave it alone and let nature do its thing. :)

That's just me.
