Hi everyone.
I am relatively new to the topic of collecting ancient coins. Whenever I use Wildwinds.com I feel as though I don't know where to start in it's vast collection. What are your best tips and tricks when using wildwinds, and how do you filter down the results to your coin?
Help appreciated,
Thanks!

The only tip I can give you is to use the Thumb Nail image icon so that you can search using the coin images.

It depends on how much you already know about the coins you have. If you can identify the Emperor, or at least narrow it down to a few rulers based on the legends or images on the obverse or reverse, you can use the thumb nail images to give you a quick visual check.

What kinds of coins are you collecting? There might be other resources that could help you as well (tesorillo, catbikes, or even a google image search can also be very useful when you're stuck)

This was my go-to before I could reasonably guess on the emperor without a reference.

Once you've narrowed it down to an Emperor use Ctrl+f to search the entire page for certain pieces of text.

This is near and dear to my heart for "late Roman bronzes" from Constantine's reforms through the first couple Byzantine emperors:

If you need to get into crazy depth (e.g. you can ID type, emperor, and field mark but not mint), I haven't found a more comprehensive resource than the spreadsheets here:

Scroll past the elementary section on common bronzes to get to the good stuff.
