The grainy surfaces in the legend makes this coin suspicious. Am I right?

Swamperbob, is the one that can answer if it's real or not, in any event condition is not AU/UNC, EF at best and it looks cleaned to me.

I don't think it's a fake, just heavily cleaned.

The grainy areas you mentioned could just as easily be from a Grease Filled Die or one that has been stressed. The fake ones usually have a more dull look, and any grainy areas would be pretty even through out the surface of the coin. I'm not an expert by any means though, so you never know.

Just saw the post - I would reserve judgement until we had better pictures or more information. Weight and S.G are a start. I would also love to see the edge.

The coin is apparently an open press strike. The dentils at the edge of the coin look good and the way light reflects from the surfaces are clear evidence for a strike. The color is ok by me. It may have been cleaned I'm not 100% sure but it certainly has seen some degree of wear. The grade of EF is fair based on the picture, but in person an AU can often look better than it's photos. The only thing I do not like are some of the minor details on the King's portrait.

However, knowing no more than I can see here, I would presume it was real until proven counterfeit by some fact not obvious in the pictures.
