I am new to the site! I have coin hunted a few rolls before but haven't really found much. I just decided to get back into it. And just found out that I could get the bank to order me some coins. I just ordered $4000 in halves so maybe I'll have some luck! It seems that other people are still finding them. Now back to the title. I seen a loomis truck pull into the bank today where I ordered the coins. So I'm assuming that they will be getting the halves from them. Has anyone had any luck with loomis halves?

Welcome!

Until today, I'd had no luck at all with LOOMIS halves... 200 coins yielded a very nice 1981-S Proof, 3 2002-D's, and 1 2003-P. Still no silver with them yet, but it's a start...

All of the silver I've found to date in MWRs has been with N.E. String and Sons.

Your best bet would be to hear from someone in your neck of the woods, which might be hard to do. But, its kinda irrelevant. The boxes will speak for themselves. That is a good sized order, I hope you get some good stuff! try that a few times to get a good sample size. If no silver in multiple orders of that size, maybe seek a new source.

and welcome to the site :-)

I have had some luck over the years with Loomis supplying flat boxes of halves wrapped in N E String and Sons paper.

I really drool though, when I get the rare delivery of a double-decker Brinks box. Every Brinks halves order I've ever received has been peppered with much more silver than usual.

My last 12 boxes of halves from Loomis in Loomis paper wraps held only a few NIFC; no silver coins. Every area and the associated coin vault are different, though IMHO the best days of finding silver halves ended about 5 years ago.

That said I'll pickup 4 boxes of Loomis halves in NF String & Sons paper wraps next week. I do not expect to find more than 1 silver coin, and perhaps no silver coins, but the gambler in me enjoys the random reinforcement :)

You honestly just never know... I've had some pretty good luck of late with Loomis.

I had my best haul ever in loomis boxes....over 100 40% halves and like 7 90-%. After that haul the supply disappeared. I've been getting orders last few weeks via Dunbar from people's United bank and although 3 boxes were skunks for silver one box yielded 2 1951S franklins, 1943 S walker, and a 64 Kennedy. It's a crapshoot really. It's like the lotto you never know.
