Does any one here trade rolls with hunters on the opposite coast? Is this even a thing? I am on the east coast and get coins with predominantly P mints for the current year. I haven't gotten any 2016 D mint coins yet. Do you trade solid date/mm rolls or mixed date rolls?

That is a good idea. I need 2016 d for dimes, nickels, and pennies. I have extra pennies and dimes for 2016 p since I'm in NY

I've thought about having friends mail me rolls. Shipping is expensive. I bet someone here could tell you how many of each denomination could fit in a flat rate box.

There are many folks here willing to trade east for west coast finds. Of course you lose the thrill of the hunt but shipping more manageable lots might be the efficient way to go.

The shipping sucks on rolls of coins... main reason why I won't sell new ones of them on ebay anymore - older rolls which have a premium I will do though... that, and sometimes the USPS decides to crush the rolls. My local B of A seems to only be getting new coins the past month and a half or so... probably would have no problem getting some rolls of 16-D cents, nickels, and dimes to trade, but that darned shipping!
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

You can discuss the concept of trading here, but if you want to request an east-west trade, you need to do it in the proper forum.

Flat rate boxes can go up to 50 pounds, and would probably hold the better part of a full box of most denominations. Trouble is, how do you find someone with enough of what you need to justify $11 just in shipping for both ways?

Jbuck I was not trying to set up a trade in this forum. I was just wondering if that is something people do. I was thinking about making a topic in trading but wanted to gauge it first. Rackster, I wasn't talking about trading finds I was talking about trading rolls that may or may not contain what I am looking for. Preserving the thrill of the hunt. If I did trade with someone I think I would prefer rolls that are not solid date but have a high probability of containing a few of the date/mm I want. I.e. Trading with a west coaster for rolls that probably have 2016d coins in them. But not all the coins being 2016d

No problem at all, Steele. For the record, I was making a clarification post as a follow-up to the Staff edit made above.
