Hi,

This coin has got that dark tough-to-remove coating on both sides.

After I find out what this coin is and its rarity, I would like to know some techniques on how to remove this stuff.

I feel that this dark coating has actually protected the coin from excessive wear over the years but it's no good to me unless it can be removed enough to further uncover some more of the hidden devices etc.

VICT DD NN AVG ET CAES reverse type.

IMHO, the bust style can only be Constantius II.

Only mint for him is Rome, either RIC 251 or 252

Pearl-diademed, draped, cuirassed = 251
Laurel + rosette diademed, draped and cuirassed = 252
