With two gaps left in my binder and knowing what one of them was for I have been keeping my eye out for the other.

The page contains a mixture of coins, a few Celtic, some Byzantines, a pair of Indian and a couple of Parthian. I had imagined perhaps a gold Byzantine there but times are hard.

So when I spotted this little fellow, cheap as chips but unlike anything else in my collections I thought it fitted the bill nicely.

So now just that Kamarina coin that I have been looking for... but with the exchange rate low as it is now, and an overdraft that could use attention now isn't a great moment.

Very nice pick up, David. I'm fond of this type too.

Yeah, I would imagine that purchasing coins post-Brexit-vote, especially from dealers outside the UK, is tougher now. The hobby teaches us patience, though, doesn't it? Looking forward to the Kamarina.

I guess we mustn't discuss politics here... but I will suffer what ever challenges Brexit offers because long term I think it will work out for the best (not for me personally perhaps but for following generations)

I was urging everyone to buy gold for the last couple of months... thinking that a remain vote would offer little fluctuation but a leave vote it would jump... and jump it did. 22% on results night.

Yes patience... its a key characteristic of a good collector...not a personal trait of mine but if I can't find the coin I want then I can't buy it, no matter how impatient.

Thanks! I found a group of 4 ebay stores (at least two are the same person) that are great for these coin types. I was able to win a few really cheap ($2-3) later examples that should be here in a few weeks.

I love putting together a chronological run of these cheap silver Indian types, where you can really watch the design degrade into abstract shapes over the course of a couple centuries.
