Dear xxx Xxxxxx
I am responding to your complaint to the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association regarding the sale of counterfeit coins on the Kijiji website by Mr. Colin Cutler. You are a current member of the
RCNA and so is Mr. Cutler.
Once the complaint was received, an investigation of facts was obtained and that included a telephone interview with Mr. Cutler by a senior
RCNA executive member.
A teleconference call was organized for the executive board of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association. The majority of board members from across Canada and the United States took part in the call. A lengthy discussion took place about this incident and counterfeit coins in general.
The By-Laws of the
RCNA are very clear about the sale and exhibiting of counterfeit coinage.
A vote was taken and the decision of the
RCNA was to issue a strong reprimand for these breaches of the
RCNA By-Laws to Mr. Cutler. Any further breaches of the
RCNA By-Laws will result in suspension or membership termination. Mr. Cutler was ill informed of the rules of Canadian law as well as the contents of the
RCNA By-Laws, has taken responsibility for his actions and admits to his wrongdoing.
The
RCNA executive board strongly condemns the sale and exhibiting of counterfeit coins.
Thank you for your concern.
Sincerely,
Paul Johnson
Executive Secretary
Royal Canadian Numismatic Association
