I have been following a $20 St.Gauden's double eagle that was listed as AU with bold capital letters saying "NO RESERVE!" It ended with 24 bids at $1350. besides the ended auction on my ebay watch list it states the seller has relisted the item. Went to the relisting and it is the exact same coin with "no reserve" again specified.

How can this be? If there were no reserve it should have sold for $1350...notice feedback profile is at 99% point something.

Unless he was shill bidding it himself and it didn't reach the amount he wanted. Based on ebay rules he shouldn't be doing this. Only a guess however..

Perhaps the high bidder did not pay, so it was relisted.

Might not be so sinister. Sometimes buyers back out, it happens.

Their shill won it. Winning bidder's 30 Day bid history includes 150 total bids on 23 different items. 100% activity with this seller!

ebay does not police themselves anymore.
It is up to other bidders to report sellers
who list counterfeit coins or shillbidders to them.

Personally I dislike shillbidders more than those who sell counterfeit coins because they know what they are doing whereas fake coin sellers often do not.

I have reported shillbidders in the past with good results
and suggest you do the same with this seller.

i don't think you can report shill bidding, I think they have software that does that internally.. but I would like to know for sure.

silverwolf-
"For sure" you can report shillbidders.
I have done so on numerous occasions in the past.

Sometimes it takes more than one report or more
than one person, but it can be done.

notified ebay (after about 30 minutes of trying to find how) ebay's reporting system sucks! wasn't able to enter specifics, just able to check boxes that were somewhat accurate to the complaint, most of the "report" links didn't work or ended up on the "yellow brick road" , seems like they ( ebay) doesn't want to get complaints, you have to persevere to make it through so then they take it more seriously if you expend that much effort (maybe).

Nope

ebay makes money off listings and sales.

Since you aren't paying the fees, you are the product.

The don't give a rat's fuzzy posterior about you, nor about the sellers.

I understand your frustration. Trying to personalize a corporation is a difficult task because they are entities void of personalities or feelings. The business world can be cold and harsh but we don't have to take it personally.

If a shill bidder buys it, the seller will still have to pay the final value fee, unless the shill backs out. How many backouts can a shill account have before it is banned? Not sure I get how this shilling is supposed to work for anybody.
