I bought this coin from an ebay dealer recently. To me it appears that the last 8 could have been repunched, so someone please verify that? Also, what are your opinions on the grade?

Much too small to see any defects.
Look at the size of some of the other
photos on this thread.

Looks convincing enough for a Double punched last 8.
I had a DP888 for a while and looks consistent.
As for grade VG-10

DBM: I love seeing the ebay sleuthing :)

Yep, I got the coin on ebay :)

As for the variety: it isn't the Double 888 http://coinsandcanada.com/coins-pri...t-1876-1901) , the DP last 8 is a different variety altogether. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You're right dzhuang, I have an 888/888 and yours is a last 8/8
I was just noting in my 888/888 the last 8 is double punched the same way.
