Can anyone help me in identifying this coin? It has the words
V8. 1517. S. leopold (one side)
Moneta. Nova. Carinthi (on the other side)

It measures 1 inch across or roughly 25mm and is made of silver.

I presume it is a coin struck in 1517 in Southern Austria but I cannot find any reference to it, any information would be greatly appreciated

The closest I could find is Saurma 311 - There were 310 and 309 on acsearch, but they have different legends (grossvs carinthie). Although this coin has slithly different legend too (carin instead carinthie as on your coin). Hope it helps.

Thanks to everyone for their help! I was given it as a gift whilst in France, it was a gift from a good friend of mine who knew nothing about it. I can see that Numista rate it as rarity 100 so it must be something rather unusual and special. As I am new to coins what condition whould you rate this coin and out of interest does it have any value? Many thanks. Shaun

@shaun, not super rare. I see a similar batzen from Kaernten (dated 1518) currently listed at 70 euros. Yours has a little better details. Thanks for sharing this great coin!
