I am going to assemble a collection of RCM sets. Should I collect Proof or Specimen sets, what are the pros and cons?

My suggestion would be to try and assemble a few PL sets of the 1960's in Heavy Cameo. This is a bit of a challenge. I would also suggest assembling Mint State sets from the 1930's to the 1970's in a grade of about MS64. This too is a challenge. You will then have a nice set of coins that should appreciate in value. As for specimen sets, I like those that have the matte finish - from about 1998 to the present. They are lower mintage compared to earlier Specimen sets. The more recent Proof sets are also nice. But these sets still have relatively high mintages, which means that their value will not go up much over time.
