Just a little over a month ago I acquired and posted my first plate coin, a little Kamnaskires IV obol from Elymais that is illustrated as an example of the type in P.A. van't Haaff's
Catalogue of Elymaean Coinage:
https://goccf.com/t/262356&SearchTerms=plate,coinWell, I've been lucky enough to score my second plate coin, this time an Artabanos III tetradrachm from Parthia. The coin is #841A of Plate 50 in the
Sylloge Nummorum Parthicorum, Volume 7. This time around I did not realize I had a plate coin on my hands since it was not advertised as such in the auction. It was only while verifying the attribution of the type that I stumbled across the same coin illustrated in the book. What a nice surprise that was!
