There are more slight differences between the coins. Just look at the upside down accent circonflexe on top of the C, for example. It's open in the left picture, filled in the right one.

Given that 88.000.000 of this coin have been struck, my best uneducated guess would be either die wear or different dies.

Instead of starting a new thread I thought it would get me a quicker and more targeted foreign audience by placing my question here.

I have a 1926 Czechoslovakia gold Ducat and wanted to know if anyone knows what would be the difference between a normal coin and the variety one described as 'not having a serial number'?

W/r/t the reference to the variety coin this same coin but with a 1923 designation is slabbed in a NGC holder saying, 'NO SERIAL NUMBER':

There are several similar slabbed coins on this page with and without the 'NO SERIAL NUMBER' label.

Keep in mind that just because the PCGS coin does not have 'NO SERIAL NUMBER' printed on the outside label, it still could be a variety. I just don't know what feature or lack thereof to concentrate on to tell the difference.

Also, if we are fortunate enough to find and distinguish between the two types what would be the variety coin's premium over and above the non-variety coin. I am trying to justify paying the extra $ for an attribution at the TPG etc.
