Hi! I found this note while going through my parents' things, and I'm trying to decide what to do with it. In your view, how would it grade?

I am ignorant of this area of collecting, but I like it - nothing raising a red flag.

Thanks for your assessments. I decided to submit it for grading by PMG, and I'll let you know what they say!

Think of what $30 was worth in 1779!

Good question, and I was curious enough to do some googling! According to one site I found, in terms of buying power, $30 equates to $585 dollars today. I thought it would be worth a lot more. I tried to attach the link but it didn't work. If you use the "purchasing power" link on the left of this site's home page, you get $601: https://www.measuringworth.com/

But this was an inflation note, so it was basically worthless back in 1779.

Wow, that grade came in a lot higher than I would have expected. Nice note.

I get the feeling that grades might be somewhat related to the quality of the competition

Quote: Wow, that grade came in a lot higher than I would have expected. I tend to agree with this. I'm also curious on the description written on the back of the PMG holder.
