What Is This 1890 (1800?) American Token?

I picked this up in a lot the other day and can't find anything about it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

The diameter is 16mm
I'm assuming it's from 1890 and not 1800 because of the quality of the strike and also the collaring used during the strike. I feel like an 1800 date would be a little crude, with no collar.

With the holes, and the large central blob on the "obverse", I would assume that it was made specifically as a jewellery imitation, rather than play money. Something made specifically to be turned into a button, or as part of a chain.

I found one of these coins/token in my collection the other day, was curious what it is also, my does not have the holes drilled in it though
