I don't know anything about it, but these sorts of store tokens can be interesting, is in nice shape many are not. I like that it has that beading on the inside like the old pennies. This was a way for a business to gain capital and reward their customers by giving them a slight break on the cost of a consumer unit on the token.

This is identified by P.N Breton, in his work "Coins and Tokens relating to Canada."
This is a Breton # 902.

The only data provided by Breton is "Struck in Montreal by Dawson. R. 1 1/2."

p.s. Breton's rarities number 1-5, with 1 being common.

Grade VF. Rather common. market value 20-30 dollars.

There was a book just published on the Maritimes tokens (including merchants). I forget the name of the book or the author, but just out a few months ago.
