I couldn't care less about dead presidents. Send all your 1964 silver coinage to me. I will pay two times face value.

i spend about $500-$1K a month on silver. I buy off the streets from private parties. Ppl get desperate need money. Meet at a LCS get the silver authenticated. Desperate ppl don't worry about premiums or getting silver spot price exactly. Simple rules of engagement is if I can get it cheaper buying in "bulk" from a corporate dealer than from ppl or a LCS I won't buy. My favorite is getting premium coins ASE or Maples for example w/o paying that $2.50-$5 premium and at a lower than spot price. Find desperate ppl.

My advice would be to spend a year absorbing all the knowledge you can before wasting money on this. Just by your question of "(will we ever be able to melt them?)" says a lot. Melt them.... why? To get .999 that you can just buy over the counter? To have .999... why? To use later for your own alloys? For investment purpose that is easily done with silver bars? Investments mean kilo bars or 100 oz bars and higher. Don't follow what other people are doing, by falling into the "divisible" small amounts or "diversifying". Diversifying silver forms means you don't know why .999 is important, or you like one coin over another merely because one has the image of a bear as opposed to an eagle. Don't fall into these traps. .999 fine grains or bars, large amounts. Done. Hold. If that's not your goal then you don't know what you're doing. Spend a year just to read and never believe what a dealer or advertisement tells you.
