So I'm at the gym getting my pump on and this guy hits me up saying he has 10 grams of gold for $25 per gram. Great deal right? Lol
I ask for a pic and he sent me the one below. Guy was disparate needing fast cash and with it being Sunday all the pawn/LCS are closed. I kindly refused saying I didn't have a weight scale plus it's not all 24K and to caveat off that it was probably stolen. Something "most" ppl don't think about when selling scrap gold (it's not 24K) . Would you have bought the crap gold for $250 or walked?

Did the guy know you wanted gold or was it a random encounter?

In either case, especially for the second, unless you test each gold piece you would be taking a huge risk that it is not real gold, even aside from the stolen goods risk. My LCS tests every piece of jewelry.

No the guy was holding it up. I have several ads on various forums from fishing/hunting to local CL. It was a chick that originally emailed me. I did check the local data base though for stolen items that fitted the description that was kindly given to me. Pawn shops are required to input the sellers info/ item description/serial #/make/model into a data base that LEOs can tap into.
