Out of curiosity, eaglefoot, what bank was it? I get the feeling that B of A is going to do something like this soon, as my local branch seems to HATE dealing with coins.

Parklane64! I have never had a business account, but I suppose they might not pay interest since they exist to serve your business and not to generate income.

John.... It's not a national chain, they only exist here in Topeka, Kansas & one other town. 4 branches all together, 3 in my town. Love the ideas to "get em'" & find another bank....

It's a long front and back pamphlet, but this is the part that's new with the coin orders. How do you guys read this for me to "dump" the coins ?

Coin orders/ exchange less than $100 look to be free, but that is not much room to maneuver. My opinion would be to move to another bank if possible.

Charging money to get change... the whole concept just disgusts me. Switch banks, and don't look back...

I would say find a bank that will sell you bags. Since it cost them to have them shipped you can do it for them. As long as you have a free dump location. I know one day that may happen to me as well. So for now I will continue to order halves until they tell me to get lost.

What I have been looking for is the State or Feds to "tax" your purchase. They could say that an exchange of money for other money is a purchase. The s in my area charge me for water usage for a fire sprinkler system thats never been used. Been paying since 1975 175.00 a quarter and sales tax on that 175.00. So my town screws me and the state screws me. Any way to get further into your pocket to fund their hobby, theft.

Here in Western Europe it's been like this for quite a while now: coin handling costs money. Buying rolls, having a bank making rolls of your change (forbidden in some countries to do that yourself) and depositing coins or rolls all cost you money. In addition, a Dutch bank (ABN) presented a plan today to charge customers for storing their money with them. That's correct, negative interest on your money.
So, go and enjoy in the US as long as it lasts! It seems that you still have many banks to choose from which won't charge you fees.

Quote: Try to ship 2 boxes of nickels and 4 boxes of Lincolns to someone, anyone.... Then tell me why they shouldn't charge you a fee. The people that handle, roll, and deliver those boxes don't work for free so you can find hidden treasures for free. Exactly. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone specifically but the entitlement attitude some have is somewhat alarming.

By the way... you pay no annual fee for having a bank account, you don't pay an annual fee for having a bank card, for having a credit card with them and just $1 for ATM transactions in foreign locations? Consider yourself lucky! I pay over $100 annually for those 'services' with my bank... and up to $5 for a 'foreign' transaction and over $1 for an ATM transaction with my bank... Not that other banks here are better, though...
